Environmental portrait of an academic photographed near a South Kensington terrace
SOUTH KENSINGTON · SW7
Why South Kensington

A backdrop with credentials.

South Kensington is one of the few London areas where the architecture does half the work for you. The Albert Hall, the Natural History Museum steps, the Brompton Oratory and the listed terraces around Pelham Crescent give the kind of structured backdrop that suits professional services, academic, and embassy clients.

We approach SW7 sessions as a planned route rather than a single location. Forty five minutes of shooting can cover three distinct looks: a refined exterior portrait against pale stone, a quieter image in the V&A inner courtyard, and a tighter editorial framing near the Royal College of Art.

"as a photographer and videographer myself, emmet is one of a kind. actually has an understanding of light and composition that most don't have. every time i've seen his work i've been genuinely impressed."

"I commissioned Emmet to record a series of educational videos on ergonomics to share with some of my patients. He was excellent at both directing and coaching me, and I actually really enjoyed the process! Emmet is great at putting one at ease."

"Incredible photographer! I'm always impressed with the quality of photos that I receive back, it's always far above and beyond what I was expecting. Also just a super cool person and very good at directing to get the perfect shot. Can't wait to have my photos taken again! :3"

FAQ

South Kensington session questions.

Anything else worth knowing before you book. Missing your question? Ask directly.

Do you need a permit to shoot in South Kensington?
Most pavements and the V&A inner courtyard are fine for handheld portrait work. Tripods, lighting stands, and any commercial campaign work need permission. We check this before every SW7 booking.
How busy is the museum quarter?
Quietest before 10:00 on weekdays and after 16:30. Weekends are busy from 11:00 onwards. We default to early starts for portrait sessions.
Can you cover both indoors and outdoors?
Yes. The Editorial tier bookends with studio time at Fulham, then heads to SW7. Indoor museum interiors are not permitted for commercial portrait work.
Where do we meet?
Default meeting point is the V&A garden gate on Exhibition Road. Other options include the front of South Kensington tube or your office or hotel lobby.
What if it rains?
We move to covered locations: V&A entrance archway, Royal Albert Hall side, and the Brompton Oratory portico. If conditions are genuinely unworkable we reschedule within 14 days at no extra cost.
