Portrature at the rave
Rave Photography Studio Sessions.
A few months ago, I decided to take on a project and begin taking studio style portraits at rave events, my intention with this was to find unique individuals at the sort of events and get a chance to flex both my and their creativity.
At the time I had just started up my studio photography portrait service and wanted a way to familiarise myself with the workflow. I had done studio photography many times however the relentless rate of new people coming to me to get photos was exhilarating since I had to produce high-quality images every two minutes, coming out with over 600 high-quality portrait images.
I shot my first event at Nitecraw and then Riposte and plan on doing more rave events in the future.
Being a photographer I was already in the rave photography world, having access to events wasn’t particularly difficult. However, finding a venue that has a space for such a large setup was tricky, but having studio portrait sessions offered at the event proved popular.
The days following the images being released, I saw nearly every single one of them posted by every single person that had their photo taken. The portraits were loved and I really enjoyed it.
If I was to do it again, I would focus more on intimate portraits and possibly reduce the number of people I take photos of since as much as I love the fast pace, there are a few people I wish I had more time with to really get an artistic portrait.
Potentially in the future I might try this studio session idea with rave videography, getting dynamic high-quality rave video for promotion and simply because it’s cool.
I look forward to my next rave studio session and I’m always looking for new London rave events to book me.
