Event photographer in Peckham: shooting a rave’s first night
An event photographer in Peckham often meets a night at the very start, before anyone knows it’ll be big. On 9 August 2025 I shot one of Me Too rave’s earliest events at Peck and Greyhound in Peckham. They’ve since grown into internet-themed nostalgia raves and they’re doing brilliantly, but back then it was one room and a lot of belief. Good photos from night one give a new promoter the ammunition to build, and I’ll explain how that works.
Why does a new night need a photographer early?
Because the first nights are your pitch to everyone who wasn’t there. A packed, glowing photo of your debut convinces the next crowd, the next DJ, and the next venue. Without images, a great night just evaporates the morning after.
Me Too’s first events had real energy, and capturing that gave them a visual identity to grow from.
How do you shoot a small night so it looks huge?
You shoot the density and the faces, not the empty corners. Every room has its busiest pocket, and that’s where the story is. Tight shots of a packed dancefloor read as a sold-out night even when the venue is intimate.
Peck and Greyhound has that close, sweaty Peckham energy, brick, low light, people right up against the booth, which photographs far bigger than the floor plan suggests.
What should a promoter ask a nightlife photographer for?
Fast turnaround, a mix of crowd and DJ shots, and a consistent look they can build a brand on. Photos that all feel like the same night let a promoter post a recognisable feed rather than a random scatter. That consistency is what turns a one-off into a series.
I keep a night’s edit tight and on-brand so it strengthens the identity rather than muddling it.
Who books nightlife coverage in South London?
New promoters and collectives around Peckham and Deptford, plus the venues that host them. LemonLens shoots these as part of our event photography, and the same low-light instinct carries into creative portrait work for the artists behind the nights. South East London is home turf for this scene.
FAQ
How much does an event photographer cost in Peckham?
A club night is usually booked for a few hours and priced by time, with late finishes accounted for. First-night bookings for new promoters are among the more affordable rates. Tell me the venue and hours and I’ll quote.
Can you make my small night look busy?
Yes, and honestly so, by shooting the busiest moments and tightest crowds rather than faking anything. A well-shot intimate night looks lively, not empty.
How quickly do I get the photos?
Within a day or two. New nights live or die on momentum, so I prioritise fast edits that you can post while the buzz is still going.
Do you cover nights across South London?
Yes. Peckham and Deptford are home ground, and the wider South London club circuit is regular work too. Wherever your night is in the city, I can usually cover it.

If you’re running the night, it usually turns up on Resident Advisor and in listings like Songkick soon after, which is where strong photos earn their keep.
