DJ promo video in London: an outdoor shoot in an East London park

A DJ promo video in London doesn’t need a club to land, sometimes daylight and green space beat a dark booth completely. On 4 June 2026 I filmed a promo video for an Italian DJ in a park in East London, chasing visuals that would stand out from the usual dark-club promo clip everyone else posts. It worked. The video performed well once it went up. Here’s why an outdoor location was the right call and what made the visuals land.

Why shoot a DJ promo outdoors instead of in a club?

Because every other DJ promo looks the same, low light, coloured gels, a booth. Daylight in a park gives you texture, real colour and a location nobody else in the genre is using. That contrast alone made the video stand out in a crowded feed.

The DJ wanted something that looked different from the standard promo clip, and an outdoor East London location delivered exactly that.

How do you make a park location feel gripping rather than random?

Composition and movement, not the location alone. I chased angles that used the park’s natural lines, paths, tree cover, open grass, rather than just filming a DJ standing in a field. Movement through the space kept the video visually interesting shot to shot.

That’s what separated it from a generic outdoor clip. The setting did some of the work, but the camera movement did the rest.

What made this promo perform well after release?

Novelty and clean execution together. An unusual setting only works if the footage itself is sharp, so the visuals had to hold up on their own merit, not just ride on being different. Once posted, the video pulled attention specifically because it looked unlike anything else in the DJ’s feed.

That combination, a fresh location shot properly, is what actually drives performance on promo content.

Who books DJ and artist promo video?

DJs, producers and labels wanting visual content that cuts through. LemonLens shoots promo video across London as part of our event and artist work, and it sits alongside artist portrait sessions booked at LemonShark Studio. East London’s parks and green spaces are regular ground for this kind of shoot.

FAQ

How much does a DJ promo video cost in London?

Promo shoots are priced per project, based on locations, shoot length and edit. Tell me your sound and the look you want and I’ll quote.

Why shoot outdoors instead of in a venue?

Because it stands out. Most DJ promo content is filmed in dark clubs, so daylight and an unusual setting immediately separate a video from the crowd.

Do outdoor locations need a permit?

Sometimes, depending on the park and crew size. I check this ahead of any outdoor shoot so nothing holds up filming on the day.

How many clips can I get from one outdoor session?

Usually several, covering different angles and locations within the same park, giving enough footage for a main promo cut plus additional social clips.

Strong outdoor promo content tends to travel well once it hits platforms like Resident Advisor and Songkick, where a distinctive look genuinely helps an artist stand out.

The Royal Parks and other green spaces across the city offer plenty of similarly striking backdrops for outdoor promo shoots.
