Chelsea Town Hall wedding photographer: ceremony and reception
A Chelsea Town Hall wedding photographer has to work fast and quietly, because these ceremonies are short and the room is beautiful but busy. On 6 September 2025 I photographed a wedding there, covering a section of the ceremony and the reception, with a freshly installed flower arch that had gone in that morning. Town hall weddings pack a lot of emotion into a small window. If you’re marrying at Chelsea Town Hall or a similar registry, here’s how I cover a day like it.
What’s different about photographing a town hall wedding?
Pace. Registry ceremonies are tighter than a big church or country wedding, so there’s no room to miss a moment. The rings, the kiss, the walk back down, they all happen quickly and once.
Chelsea Town Hall itself does a lot of the work. Grand staircases, panelled rooms, and that famous frontage give you a backdrop that needs almost no help.
How do you handle a fresh flower arch and details?
Shoot them clean before the ceremony fills the room. The flower arch at this wedding had just been installed, so I photographed it pristine before guests arrived and again as part of the ceremony. Fresh flowers photograph best in their first few hours.
Those details cost couples real money and thought, so getting clean images of them early is part of the job, not an afterthought.
Do you need full-day coverage for a town hall wedding?
Not always, and that’s the appeal. Many couples choose a registry wedding for something smaller, so coverage of the key ceremony moments and the reception is often enough. You pay for the hours that matter rather than a full day you don’t need.
For this Chelsea wedding I focused on the ceremony section and reception, which suited the scale of the day perfectly.
Where do you shoot registry weddings in London?
Across the city’s town halls and registry offices. LemonLens covers wedding photography throughout London, from intimate registry ceremonies to full-day celebrations, and it pairs with couples portrait sessions beforehand. Chelsea, Kensington, and Fulham are right on our doorstep.
FAQ
How much does a Chelsea Town Hall wedding photographer cost?
Registry wedding coverage is priced by the hours you need, which is often fewer than a full day. Covering the ceremony and reception is a popular, affordable option for smaller weddings. Send me your date and I’ll quote.
Can you photograph just part of the day?
Yes. Many town hall couples want the ceremony and a bit of the reception rather than getting-ready to last dance. I build coverage around the hours that matter to you.
Is there time for couple portraits at a town hall wedding?
Usually, yes. Chelsea Town Hall’s staircases and the surrounding streets make quick, beautiful portrait spots, so we grab a few between the ceremony and reception without holding up the day.
Which London registry offices do you cover?
All of them, including Chelsea and Kensington, plus Fulham and the central town halls. Wherever you’re marrying in London, I can usually be there.
